The birth of a child happens so quickly. Even for those like myself who were in labor for more than 20 hours. It happens quickly and then life rushes by. For a few short hours at the hospital you and your small family are able to drink in all of the beauty of your new child. There are no dishes to do, clothes to fold or other details to clutter your time. I remember so much of my sons birth through photographs taken by my sister Mary. All of which bring those precious moments back to me. That crazy realization that I was really a mom and this was really my child. Finally I could see his sweet face and touch his tiny hands with my own. We all drank in the precious gift and delighted in him. I am so thankful that is all captured in photographs. I declined all other photographs from the hospital, and honestly I don’t regret that. I have a documentation in photographs of our life at that time. He changed us that day from husband and wife to momma and daddy. True moments of joy, amazement and exhaustion were captured. I am oh so thankful for it all.
