EsterCobe52 Week 39 // Field Trip

For some the winter is long. Remember, I LOVE winter, however we do venture to indoor places a few times during winter to mix things up a bit. We take an annual trip to the Detroit Institute of Arts in downtown Detroit in February and have done so for the last five years. The kids just love the art and ambiance the building brings.

I always pack my large camera to photograph my kiddos when we journey to the museum, however I cherish the cell phone photographs I take as well. My personal instagram is dedicated to all smart phone photography! A few tips below.

  • Keep your camera ready. If you are using your smart phone have it ready to use in photo mode.
  • TAKE THE PICTURE. Even if its not perfect, its better taken than not. Trust me, you will love these photos.
  • If you are in an art museum its super important to review guidelines before you enter the museum, and often throughout your visit. This will help free you up to take photographs as the kiddos know not to touch the art etc.
  • Keep the kids engaged. Ask them open ended questions.
  • Museums are typically really dark, but don’t allow flash. Your photographs will be darker. Embrace what you cannot change and move on.
